SARAH BARRERAWife, Boy Mom, Sister, Helper, Encourager, Wannabe Photographer
Likes: Celebrating others, being by the water, two-stepping, drinking coffee, snuggling her labradoodles and playing sports with her boys Dislikes: Inefficiency, negativity, mornings, watching tv Sarah is a lifelong Houstonian and with a young family of her own, deeply invested in the local community. After earning her Engineering degree and MBA from Texas A&M, she has spent her nearly decade-long career working in project management of Major Capital Projects in Oil & Gas. She is proud to work for a company leading the global charge on carbon emission reductions and is excited to see the growth and opportunities those efforts will bring to Houston. Outside of work, Sarah formerly served as a Houston Texans Cheerleader and her favorite part of that experience was engaging with the Houston community, especially when those interactions provided the chance to inspire and encourage young children. Most recently, Sarah founded her own event rental and décor company, @giantletterboard_houston and has spent a little over a year helping Houstonians celebrate life’s special moments. Personally, family is everything to Sarah. Her extended family has a wonderful history of successful international adoptions and her and her husband were eager to learn more about the different systems through which children can find forever families, domestically. During the pandemic, she was searching for organizations to support with her extra time and thankfully found Houston Angels. She was particularly impacted by their mission to give a voice to the voiceless and advocate for some of the most vulnerable members of our community, children in Foster Care. Sarah immediately signed up as a Love Box Leader and has developed an incredible relationship with her Love Box Family as well as enjoyed volunteering in other capacities at events. Sarah is thrilled to serve on the Board of Directors and support Houston Angels’ mission in every way, especially by making sure the children in our programs are regularly celebrated and reminded just how loved they are! |
