Our brains are most malleable in the first years of life, and again during puberty and adolescence. Experiencing trauma and foster care during this time can have significant negative impacts on a child's: - Physical and mental health - Education, learning, and development - Relationships with peers - Independent living skills - Financial literacy - Self-efficacy ... and more But there IS hope. Over the course of a decade, our organization has seen what can happen when a child is wrapped in love and support, and when their dreams are heard and valued. We have seen how the power of relationships, community, and acts of good can make a life changing difference for children and youth in foster care. Your support of our Foster the Future Luncheon fuels programs that provide children and youth in care with 1) normalcy, 2) placement stability, 3) relational permanency, 4) resilience, and 5) life preparation. |
