HANA woyt, MPH/MSWLikes: dogs, anything outdoors, sushi, baseball, and hanging with her nieces Dislikes: running, walnuts, and sour cream Hana is from Bullard, a small town in East Texas. In 2022, she completed her dual Master’s degree in Public Health and Social Work at the University of Texas Health Science Center and the University of Houston. Hana earned her Bachelor’s of Healthcare Administration from Texas State University in 2019 but continued to further her education for a more well-rounded knowledge base of the healthcare system, social justice issues and advocacy, and resources for the community. Hana first joined the Houston Angels team as an intern in 2021. During her internship, she became so passionate about this mission and knew she wanted to continue working with the organization long-term. Hana soon joined the Board of Directors as Vice President and began playing an integral role both out front and behind the scenes - creating new partnerships, fundraising, optimizing operations, event planning, and more. When the opportunity to lead Houston Angels as Executive Director presented itself, Hana jumped in without hesitation! She loves working with this community and is so excited to further empower the team to create a lasting impact on families, children, and youth in foster care. Her drive and dedication to serving others continues to inspire change and growth for Houston Angels! WHAT'S YOUR WHY? "Ever since I was little, I have always had a heart for serving others, and I wanted a passion-filled career that changed lives - not just a job to pay bills - and that let me into healthcare and social work. I joined Houston Angels as an intern in grad school and immediately fell in love with the work they were doing. Naturally, my driven personality and passion for #changingthestats took over and led to me to the honor of becoming Executive Director. The foster care community is one that often gets overlooked, and it was really life-changing to learn that most foster homes close their doors within the first year of fostering. One of the things I love most about our programs is that we wrap community around the entire family - bio kiddos, caregivers, adopted kiddos and kids in care - all to ensure that the family feels supported to continue loving on these kids that deserve so much! It's truly amazing to witness such change and growth in the lives of children and families, and I am forever grateful to lead the efforts in such a transformational mission.
